Where Are Your Interior Lights?

Interior lights, also referred to as dome lights, are the lights that can typically be found in the middle of your car's interior ceiling. You will usually have a set of interior lights over the driver and passenger seats and another set over the backseat. These lights turn on when someone opens a door, and they usually stay illuminated until the vehicle engine turns on or they time out. You can also manually turn them on and off when needed.

Drivers and passengers rely on interior lights to tackle tasks such as fastening seat belts, hunting for lost items, or reading maps and other documents when it's dark. 1. Door or Trunk Is Not Closed

In some instances, the reason your car door light won't turn off might be as simple as a door or the trunk not being properly closed. Fortunately, the fix for this issue is easy. Check to see if the trunk or any doors have been left open. If you find one that isn't shut, you can close it to see whether the interior lights will go off.

2. Headlight Brightness Needs to be Adjusted

The knob that controls the brightness of your headlights may be the cause of your interior lights not shutting off. If the brightness is set at its highest level, this can lead to inside car lights that won't turn off. To determine if this is the culprit, just play with the brightness setting for your headlights.

3. Light Switch Needs to Be Turned Off

It happens all the time: the switch that turns on the interior lights is accidentally bumped. The solution to this could be as straightforward as turning the switch to the "off" position. 4. Inoperative Light Switch
