What kind of battery does my Nissan need?
Having the right-sized battery for your Nissan is an essential part of keeping your vehicle operational and efficient. All car batteries have a set number of cold cranking amps (CCA). The number of CCAs can directly affect your battery's ability to start in cold temperatures. Additionally, automotive batteries with more cold cranking amps can be more reliable over longer periods of time and even have extended battery life compared to batteries with lower cold-cranking amps.
In addition to the CCA, you need to consider Group size. Group size is determined by the battery's physical size, terminal location, and type. Multiple batteries can have the same CCA but different Group size, so knowing the Group will help you really narrow down which battery will work best for your specific vehicle.
Your Nissan's battery requirements are determined by a host of factors like your vehicle's year, model, drivetrain, and features. We've made it easy to find your Nissan's exact battery match online. How to Replace Your Nissan Car Battery
When replacing your Nissan's car battery, it's essential to begin by removing the negative (black) cable from the battery terminal first. Removing the positive (red) terminal first may result in an electrical short that could damage the battery or even components in your Nissan.
With the battery cables removed, clean the battery cables with a wire cleaning brush and a manufacturer-approved battery cleaning solution. Avoid using alternative cleaning solutions, as these could potentially damage the battery cables.
Your Nissan may have a strap holding the battery in place as well as a battery cover that houses your Nissan's battery. Remove the bolts holding the strap in place, then remove the strap and battery cover. Lift the battery up and out of the battery tray, replace the battery with a new, genuine Nissan battery, and secure the battery with the battery cover and strap. Connect the positive and negative cables to the battery posts starting with the positive cable first. Once your cables are secured, your Nissan is ready for the road ahead with your new battery!
